Power Flush

Power Flush We were called to a house where a new boiler was fitted two years before and the owner was having problems with their hot water. Every time they had a shower the water kept going hot and cold. It was the same from every tap, also when the boiler had fired on full flame there were loud banging noises coming from the boiler. This picture is of the filter which should’ve been completely clear. As you can see its very dirty. This “sludge” wasn’t removed before installation. The installer skipped the time consuming but very important power flush.

Flues in Voids

Flues in Voids A lot of the things we see by other so called “plumbers” are often quite amusing, but sometimes they can be dangerous. On this occasion we found an incorrectly fitted flue. As you can see there are no support brackets and the flue has become detached. Also the flue route wasn’t fitted to manufacturers instructions. Dodgy Pipe

Dodgey Pipe We were called to a gas leak. The customer had already correctly isolated the gas before we arrived. This was corrected and once gas was re-tested we reinstated the supply.   SEE ALL POSTS

When you buy a hob, it generally comes with a formed fitting which the plumber can connect onto with standard fittings. This pipe had been cut back and a compression fitting had been over-tightened onto it. The problem was they cut off the standard 15mm connection which meant the hob was unsafe to use. The customer was lucky there wasn’t a gas leak and we had spotted the potential danger. A new part wasn’t available to buy

Mind the Gap

Mind the Gap We see this far too often. Lazy fitters not even making good the flue after installation. This one didn’t even need ladders to sort it. Installation was at ground level.   SEE ALL POSTS
